There's always that one legendary rehearsal. The one where, without anyone quite understanding why, everything just flowed. The solos were masterful, the band's energy locked in, everyone finding their place in a coherent whole. Time seemed to stand still, and after that collective high, sleep was out of the question.
Of course, nobody took any notes, we had better things to do! The Zoom was never set to record. And we'll remember what worked for next rehearsal… or maybe we won't.
We dreamed up Clean Take to answer that morning-after frustration. How do you feed a band's memory, and keep it alive between two rehearsals? How do you get the tedious chores out of the way (splitting the tracks, renaming files, lining up schedules, sorting out the accounts) so you can focus on what really matters: the music.

Clean Take turns a raw rehearsal session into a collaborative workspace for the band.
You vote ahead of time for the songs you want to work on, you hit Record when you arrive at rehearsal, and off you go! During the session, every member can add comments, gut reactions or annotations on the fly: a take worth keeping, a passage to rework, an arrangement idea not to forget.
When the rehearsal ends, Clean Take sorts it all out.
The app analyzes the recording, tells the takes apart from the chatter, groups together what seems to belong to the same song, then helps you match those takes to the titles in your repertoire, and it sharpens its matches the more you play those titles. You can fix the splits, set aside the false starts, keep the best versions and share the session with the band.
Instead of one long audio file that's impossible to sift through, you get a structured rehearsal: the songs you played, the takes that matter, the comments attached to them, and what to keep in mind for next time.

Some takes deserve a closer look. When a version truly captures the song as the band imagines it, Clean Take generates a Take Away from it: a musical synthesis that becomes a shared foundation to work from.
In practice, the app extracts the chord chart, detects the recurring motifs and the sections (verse, chorus, bridge, solo…).
Band members can keep collaborating on a song between rehearsals, commenting on passages, suggesting a chord or structure change: where a solo begins, what intention to give the first verse, what to do on stage, where to place the build-up…
No more endless WhatsApp threads where nobody understands each other!
Musicians can access the separated tracks of the song in question (a bit like Moises), adjusting vocals, bass, drums and the rest independently. Everything you need to replay the rehearsal at home!
A good rehearsal becomes shared material in motion, legible, shareable within the band, and enriched by the band.

A rehearsal isn't a prompt. It isn't a flawless production generated in a few seconds. It's playing, listening, useful mistakes, an improvised jam, chords that clash a little too, sometimes!
Clean Take uses technology to preserve that real, organic material. The goal isn't to make music in your place, but to help you find a take, an idea, a decision, a direction faster, and to keep collaborating together after the rehearsal.

A rehearsal is an intimate thing.
You hear the trial runs, the wrong notes, the discussions, the songs still under construction, the versions you're not quite ready to own yet. Clean Take is designed with that reality in mind.
Your recordings and your songs should stay under your control. The app is built offline-first for recording, and centered on the band: you can record, organize and work on your rehearsals even without a connection, then share the extracted, cleaned-up rehearsal with your band.
Later on, you and your band also have the option, if you want it, to share the best takes with your audience (friends, family, fans…), through a dedicated page. Your instant showcase, straight out of rehearsal!
You can also kick off an analysis of the discussions between songs, to surface comments that help the band move forward.
A frustration lived, not an abstract concept.
Clean Take is imagined and built by Antoine, founder of Clean Take and an amateur musician since his teens.
After years of rehearsals, bands, covers, songs in progress and phones left in a corner of the room, the same problem kept coming back: we recorded a lot, but we struggled to find what really mattered.
Clean Take is the app he wishes he'd had at 15, in his drummer friend's basement: a concrete answer to a frustration lived by so many musicians.
The project is developed within Astrolabe, a cooperative of digital entrepreneurs. That setting makes it possible to build Clean Take step by step, at the pace of real usage, with the ambition of creating a tool that's useful, reliable and respectful of the bands who'll use it.
