These Terms of Service (the "Terms") govern access to and use of the iOS mobile application, website, APIs, cloud services, messaging features, collaborative workspaces and related services of Clean Take (collectively, the "Service"), operated by ASTROLABE CAE (ASTROLABE), a French simplified joint-stock company (SAS) registered under SIREN 851 726 588, with its registered office at 8 place du Colombier, 35000 Rennes, France ("Clean Take", "we", "our").

2. Access conditions
You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service.
If you use the Service on behalf of a band, studio, music school, association or other organization, you warrant that you have the authority to bind that entity and accept these Terms on its behalf.
For music schools, conservatories and MJC: the Clean Take account must be held by the institution or the responsible adult teacher. Recordings involving minors require informed consent from parents or legal guardians, obtained and retained by the institution.
3. User account and security
To access most features, you must create an account. You can sign in via:
- Email magic link (sign-in link sent by email, no password);
- Sign in with Apple;
- Google Sign-In;
- Facebook Login.
You must provide accurate, complete and up-to-date information, and are responsible for:
- the confidentiality of your credentials and the use of your devices;
- all activities performed via your account;
- promptly notifying us of any suspicion of unauthorized access.
We may suspend or restrict access to your account if we reasonably believe it is compromised or used in violation of these Terms.
4. User Content — ownership and license
4.1 Your content remains yours
"User Content" means any content you create, upload, record or make available through the Service: audio files (session masters, auto-segmented takes), transcriptions, insights, comments, notes, messages, metadata (chroma, tempo, chords), setlists, milestones, and other elements.
You retain all rights, title and interest in your User Content. Clean Take claims no intellectual property over your recordings or compositions.
4.2 Your warranties
You are solely responsible for your User Content and warrant that you have all the rights, licenses, permissions and authorizations necessary to upload, process, store, share or use it through the Service.
You warrant in particular that your User Content and your use of the Service:
- do not infringe any third-party rights, in particular copyright, related rights, trademark, trade secret, moral rights, privacy or image rights;
- do not violate any law, regulation, contractual obligation or court decision;
- do not contain unlawful, harassing, defamatory or deceptive content;
- respect the consent of recorded persons (see Section 11).
4.3 License granted to Clean Take
Solely for the purpose of operating, securing, maintaining, backing up, synchronizing, processing, technically reproducing, transmitting, indexing and providing the Service, you grant Clean Take a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, adapt (for audio processing), transmit and process your User Content.
This license is strictly limited to what is necessary for providing the Service. It grants Clean Take no right to commercially exploit your songs, recordings, compositions or messages outside of Service operation.
5. AI-assisted features and Results
The Service uses several artificial intelligence technologies, primarily on-device:
- Whisper.cpp for on-device speech transcription (tiny / base models, FR / EN / ES / DE / multilingual);
- Apple SpeechAnalyzer as transcription fallback;
- Apple Sound Analysis + Silero VAD for voice activity detection and audio classification;
- FFT, chroma, onset detection for harmonic and rhythmic analysis;
- Constrained-graph clustering for grouping takes by song;
- Cloud models for Premium features (stem separation, chord charts, rehearsal report).
These features produce Results (transcriptions, metadata, suggestions, groupings, isolated stems, chord charts) from your User Content. You retain the rights you have in the Results specifically generated for you.
⚠️ Limitations of AI features:
- Results may be incomplete, inaccurate, approximate, misclassified or unsuited to your use;
- Transcriptions may contain errors, particularly in noisy environments or with multiple simultaneous voices;
- Chord detection, tempo and stem separation are probabilistic and may produce unexpected results;
- It is your responsibility to verify and validate any Result before use, sharing, publication or commercial exploitation.
Clean Take does not use your User Content or private Results to train or fine-tune general-purpose generative AI models, unless you explicitly opt in. See Privacy Policy Section 5.
6. Clean Take trademark
Clean Take is a trademark (EUIPO filing in progress) owned by Antoine Brémont, licensed to ASTROLABE CAE for the publication and operation of the application.
You have no license or right to use the Clean Take trademark, logo, graphic identity or distinctive signs beyond what is strictly necessary for your use of the Service.
Any unauthorized use of the Clean Take trademark (appearance in derivative products, false affiliation, deceptive content) is prohibited and may be prosecuted.
7. Workspaces, groups and roles
The Service allows creating or joining groups (bands) with one or more members and a role structure:
- Owner: group creator, maximum rights;
- Admin: management of members, settings, shared content;
- Member: participation in sessions, recording, rating, commenting.
Owners and admins can:
- invite or remove members;
- assign roles and granular permissions (debug inspector, unlock, budget management, etc.);
- access shared group content;
- moderate group content.
You acknowledge that content shared within a group is accessible to members of that group according to applicable permissions.
8. Messaging, sharing and public links
The Service enables:
- Group chat with take and file sharing;
- Polls and votes: rehearsal availability, song choice, votes;
- Public poll links: external guests can respond without creating an account (their responses are stored linked to the identifier they provide);
- Invitations by password, phone number, WhatsApp or universal link.
When you share content, files or messages:
- you do so under your own responsibility;
- you must ensure recipients are authorized to access them;
- Clean Take is not responsible for downstream use by recipients outside our control;
- shared links can be revoked from the app.
9. Music rights and third-party content
Clean Take is a tool for creation, rehearsal, collaboration and workflow. It grants you no rights that you do not otherwise hold to recordings, compositions, performances, lyrics, samples, scores or other protected content.
Covers and protected works
If you record covers of copyrighted songs:
- simple rehearsal within a restricted private circle is generally tolerated;
- as soon as you share the take beyond your private circle (group members included in certain jurisdictions), you must hold the necessary authorizations from rights holders (collecting societies, music publishers);
- any public publication of a cover without authorization is under your sole responsibility.
DMCA / copyright infringement procedure
If you believe content accessible through the Service infringes your copyright, you can report it to copyright@cleantake.app. The full procedure is described in the DMCA Policy. We apply a 3-strike policy: three substantiated complaints in a 12-month period result in permanent account suspension.
10. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service for unlawful, fraudulent, deceptive, abusive, harassing, hateful, defamatory or infringing purposes;
- harm the security, integrity or performance of the Service;
- attempt to access systems, APIs, accounts or data of other users without authorization;
- reverse engineer, scrape, copy or extract the Service beyond what the law allows;
- use bots, scripts or technical means to overload or disrupt the Service;
- use the Service to build, benchmark or train a competing product;
- upload viruses, ransomware, spyware or malicious code;
- use the Service as a tool for non-consensual surveillance (see Section 11).
We may set reasonable limits on storage, file size, recording duration, Premium processing time, AI operations, number of takes, projects, members, messages or exports based on the subscribed offer, service reliability and fairness among users.
We may suspend, limit or throttle abnormal or excessive use that compromises the Service or materially exceeds ordinary uses of the offer.
11. Microphone, recording and third-party consent
Clean Take uses your device's microphone to capture your rehearsals. You are responsible for the use of the microphone, in particular:
- to obtain the consent of all recorded persons (group members, guests, audience);
- to comply with local laws on conversation recording (some jurisdictions require all-party consent);
- to not record in prohibited contexts (school premises without authorization, private spaces of others, communications protected by professional secrecy).
Clean Take provides a clear visual indication (Dynamic Island, Lock Screen widget, in-app animation) when recording is active, in compliance with Apple requirements.
Any violation of this section may result in immediate account suspension and engages your sole civil and criminal liability.
12. Premium subscriptions and App Store purchases
12.1 Freemium model
Clean Take operates on a freemium model:
- Free: capture, on-device analysis, group management, planning, budget and most features;
- Premium: advanced cloud processing (cleaned audio, stem separation, chord charts, rehearsal report) and extended features.
12.2 Management via Apple In-App Purchase (StoreKit 2)
Subscriptions and paid purchases are managed exclusively via Apple In-App Purchase (StoreKit 2). We do not have access to your credit card data.
- Auto-renewal: subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until cancellation. The amount is charged within 24 hours before the end of the current period;
- Cancellation: you can cancel your subscription at any time via Apple settings (
https://apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; - Free trial: if a free trial is offered, it automatically converts into a paid subscription at its end, unless previously cancelled;
- Refunds: handled exclusively by Apple per its policies (
https://reportaproblem.apple.com). We do not have the power to directly issue refunds for IAP purchases.
12.3 Processing credits (upcoming)
Some Premium features may operate via processing credits (consumed for each stem separation, chord generation, or re-processing operation). Precise conditions (amounts, validity, conversion) will be communicated at the launch of this feature.
12.4 Pricing evolution
We may evolve our pricing, offers or included limits prospectively, with notice when required by law. Any price change applicable to a current subscription is notified in advance and requires your express acceptance for renewal.
13. Offline-first storage, local cache and synchronization
Clean Take works offline-first. You can record, analyze, browse and annotate without a network connection. Synchronization with our servers occurs:
- at the moment of explicit publication of a session (action on your part);
- for collaborative features (chat, polls, shares);
- for server backups of your account.
Given this operation, you acknowledge that:
- different versions of content may temporarily coexist across devices;
- editing conflicts may arise and be resolved by the "user > local > server" strategy (your manual confirmations take priority over automatic suggestions);
- local data may remain on your device until deletion by the application, the operating system or yourself;
- background uploads depend on iOS permissions, battery and network state.
It is your responsibility to verify the proper synchronization of important takes and projects.
14. Hosting and regionalization
Clean Take hosts its data primarily in France with Scaleway (Paris region). See Privacy Policy Section 8.
When a transfer of personal data occurs outside the European Economic Area (push notifications via Firebase, purchases via Apple), Clean Take implements the safeguards required by applicable law (Data Privacy Framework, Standard Contractual Clauses).
15. Personal data and GDPR
When GDPR or equivalent legislation applies, Clean Take processes personal data in accordance with these texts. As the case may be, Clean Take may act:
- as a data controller for account management, billing, security, support, telemetry, product analytics and legal compliance;
- as a data processor for certain content processed on behalf of a professional customer (music school, label, studio).
Full details in the Privacy Policy.
For any privacy-related request: privacy@cleantake.app
16. Account deletion
In case of account deletion, the target policy is total and definitive deletion of account data and associated private content, subject only to:
- technical delays (up to 30 days);
- legally mandated retentions (notably accounting);
- residual copies in backups (purged within 30 days).
Detailed procedure in the Privacy Policy Section 13.
For active IAP subscriptions: cancel first via Apple settings, then delete your account. Once deletion is finalized, recovery is not guaranteed and may be impossible.
17. Intellectual property in the Service
Subject to your rights in your User Content and Results, the Service — software, interfaces, design, databases, documentation, Clean Take trademark, logos, underlying technologies — belongs to ASTROLABE CAE (or to Antoine Brémont for the Clean Take trademark) or its licensors.
We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable and revocable license to use the Service in accordance with these Terms.
The Service uses open source components under various licenses (MIT, Apache 2, BSD, MPL 2.0, etc.). The list of components and their licenses is accessible in the app (Settings → About → Open Source) and at cleantake.app/licenses.
18. Feedback
If you send us suggestions, ideas, comments, bug reports or feature requests, you grant Clean Take a non-exclusive, worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable and royalty-free right to use these feedback for any lawful purpose, without compensation, provided that such use does not reveal your private User Content.
19. Availability, beta features and evolutions
We may modify, update, suspend, interrupt or replace all or part of the Service, including its features, integrations, architecture or pricing.
Some features may be identified as beta, experimental or preview. They are provided "as is", may be incomplete, unstable, modified or withdrawn without notice. At public launch, the following may be in beta: HPCP / dynamic harmonics, playback live activity scaffold, extensible monetization provider (Google Play preparation).
We do not guarantee uninterrupted, secure or error-free operation.
20. Content removal, moderation and reporting
Clean Take may remove, make inaccessible or restrict content or an account if we reasonably believe there is:
- infringement of third-party rights (copyright, image rights, etc.);
- unlawful use;
- security risk;
- violation of these Terms;
- abusive or fraudulent behavior.
Reporting by users
The application enables users to report content or block another user. Any substantial report is reviewed within 48 business hours.
Reporting disputed content
- For copyright infringement: copyright@cleantake.app (see DMCA Policy)
- For any other legal report: privacy@cleantake.app
21. Termination
By you
You can stop using the Service at any time and delete your account (see Section 16).
By Clean Take
We may suspend or terminate all or part of your access if:
- you substantially violate these Terms or the DMCA Policy;
- your use creates legal, technical or security risk;
- required by law or a competent authority;
- a payment fails and is not regularized within the applicable time.
In case of suspension for serious violation, you will be notified with reasons and a reasonable time to respond, unless immediate response is required by the nature of the violation.
Clauses that by their nature must survive termination (notably Sections 4.2, 4.3, 6, 17, 18, 22, 23, 24, 25) will continue to apply.
22. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", to the fullest extent permitted by law.
Within the limits authorized, Clean Take disclaims all warranties, particularly regarding merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, availability, continuity or accuracy of Results.
Clean Take does not guarantee in particular:
- that recordings, synchronizations, uploads, backups, exports or AI processing will always be available or error-free;
- that no take, message, project or file will be lost, corrupted, delayed, duplicated or overwritten;
- that AI Results (transcriptions, chords, stems, BPM, clustering) will be accurate or suited to your use;
- that stem separation will perfectly isolate an instrument;
- that generated chord charts will be musically correct.
Recommendation: for critical recordings, keep a local copy and consider activating the backup feature (upcoming) to your personal cloud.
23. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Clean Take shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, including loss of profits, revenue, goodwill, opportunity, data or business interruption.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Clean Take's overall liability under the Service and these Terms shall not exceed the greater of:
- the amount paid by you to Clean Take during the twelve (12) months preceding the triggering event;
- one hundred euros (€100).
No provision of these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited (notably in case of willful misconduct, gross negligence, or harm to a person's life).
24. Force majeure
Neither party shall be liable for failure to perform its obligations resulting from a force majeure event as defined by applicable law (notably: natural disaster, armed conflict, pandemic, governmental measures, major failure of a third-party infrastructure provider, exceptional-scale cyberattack, etc.).
The party invoking force majeure informs the other as soon as possible and makes its best efforts to limit consequences.
25. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by French law, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protection rules applicable in your country of residence.
Before any judicial action, the parties will endeavor to resolve the dispute amicably. You can write to us at privacy@cleantake.app.
